The
ideal time to begin feeding the baby first time
is after one hour of normal birth of baby. However,
in case of caesarean, doctor prescribes for feeding
the baby after around four hours of birth. Feeding
the baby after birth stimulates the production
of milk and also brings the milk down to milk
ducts. Generally, after three or four days of
childbirth mother’s milk flows down properly
to the milk ducts.

Understanding
the needs of your baby
Being a mother you should learn
the right posture for feeding the baby. It takes
time for you and your baby to adjust and find
the right position for feeding but with time you
will master this art. So take your time! Your
baby is being fed properly or not depends, to
a large extent, on the way you are feeding the
baby. The right posture of feeding the baby is
to lift your breast and touch the nipple to your
baby’s lips. Keep your baby’s body
close to yourself and ensure that your baby’s
mouth is wide open to suck the milk properly.
Once after feeding the baby well you will find
the pain that was there before feeding has disappeared.
Hence right posture during feeding the baby is
very important.
Feeding the baby is definitely a really satisfying
experience for every mother. A new born baby needs
colostrums and it is supplied through first feeding
of milk to the baby. You can breastfeed your baby
whenever you feel that your baby is hungry. But
if just after feeding baby, she starts crying
then it means she needs something else and not
milk. Hence you are supposed to check all the
possibilities of crying like wet nappy, baby may
be feeling hot or cold or may be just wants to
be cuddled. If she continues to crying without
anything then it means she needs breastfeeding.
Feeding the baby comes with number of benefits
for both the mother as well as baby. Feeding the
baby is very important as it is full of all the
nutrients that your baby requires and it is easily
digestible. Want your baby to be strong and free
from disease then feeding the baby is way to go!
