In case the feelings of despair or sadness are affecting your general functioning and disruptive to your life, then you might be suffering from clinical depression. With depression most of the people experience low energy levels or feeling of grief. Depression can actually have significant consequence on your life, work, health, and people whose life are affected by you.

Generally a mood of sadness is referred to depression. But usually for most people it is temporary.

Clinical depression goes beyond temporary state of sadness. Before actually experiencing full blown depression, people undergo various short period of depression.
